De interne staatshervorming van de Vlaamse Overheid zorgde vanaf 2014 echter voor veel wijzigingen in het welzijnslandschap. Als gevolg daarvan was er onder meer een stopzetting van de samenwerking tussen de Provincie West-Vlaanderen en de 5 West-Vlaamse Welzijnsraden in het kader van \u2018Regionaal Welzijnsoverleg\u2019, want de provinciale bevoegdheid voor persoonsgebonden zaken werd weggenomen.<\/p>\n<p>Eind 2014 werd er in de Westhoek gepeild naar de nood aan samenwerking op vlak van sociaal beleid, dit toen nog onder de structuur van de interlokale vereniging Westhoekoverleg. De nood om regionaal samen te werken en projecten op te starten mbt sociale dienstverlening bleek hoog.<\/p>\n<p>Met de komst van de Dienstverlenende Vereniging (DVV) Westhoek eind 2017 beslisten de betrokken lokale besturen dat het thema Sociaal Beleid en Sociale Economie en Werk vanaf oktober 2018 moest behartigd worden binnen deze nieuwe intercommunale. Want iedereen was en blijft het er over eens dat het welbevinden van de inwoners uit de Westhoek enkel kan verhoogd worden door samenwerking over gemeenten \u00e9n sectoren heen te stimuleren en te faciliteren.
